General Job Title: Landscape/Hardscape ForemanOriginal Date: February 2024Department: Absolute GroupRevised Date: Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities:
A landscape/hardscape foreman will have a basic understanding of agricultural labor to include retaining walls, patio blocks/pavers, grading, seeding, planting trees, and other landscaping duties at a number of job sites. Daily responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, training and directing crew members, ensuring appropriate use of equipment, communicating progress on the project, maintaining the construction schedule, coordinating drop-off and pick-up of construction materials, and evaluating job plans. He/she must have the ability to lift heavy objects and be on their feet for long periods of time. The ideal candidate must also be able to think and act as a leader and possess strong communication skills. Some agricultural construction projects require in-state travel and overnight stays. A typical schedule is Monday-Friday but could vary based on project timelines. Saturday hours are occasional and based on demand. 
 Principal Responsibilities:
  • Possess understanding of plans, reading and estimating for jobsite analysis.
  • Supervise and manage laborers assigned to jobsite; communicate and coach the assigned crew and report deficiencies in labor force as well as project labor needs.
  • Perform all necessary job site scheduling to include city inspect, special inspect, and material deliveries.
  • Order materials required for jobsite as well as miscellaneous purchase of consumables for the jobsite as directed.
  • Provide oversight and supervision of equipment operation on jobsite.
  • Manage jobsite logistics, equipment and tool management, conservation and security of equipment and supplies. 
  • Responsible for crew adherence to jobsite safety; personnel PPE, dig fencing, saw guards, inclement weather, etc. 
  • Communicate effectively with general contractors.
  • Maintain jobsite trailer and organizational cleanup on site, conservation of resources and supplies.
  • Perform general jobsite problem solving and elevate needs to management. 
  • Generate and deliver detailed daily site reports and needed. 
  • Manage mobile timecard data entry. 
  • Prepare incident or accident reports as needed.

  • Minimum 2-years’ experience in landscape/hardscape.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License and clear driving record.
Performance Requirements:
Knowledge:
  • Possess understanding of plans, reading and estimating for jobsite analysis.
  • Possess understanding of job task sequencing/critical timeline scheduling.
  • Possess knowledge of labor rates and material costs

Adverse working environment Work may be stressful due to continual interaction with others, long hours required and nature of the construction environment.
Physical Effort: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this role including prolonged sitting, bending, standing, stooping and reaching. Lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
Local Travel: Occasional, mostly within the central Iowa region only
